Ian Macrae Young is an Edinburgh based photographer who started a lifelong interest in photography 40 years ago with the purchase of an old Kodak Retina Reflex from a Glasgow auction house. Ian adds, "Since then photography has been one of my passions and despite other work and family commitments I have never lost that spark of interest and the exciting feeling when you are present at something special."
"I no longer have my old cameras with which I took some of my first commercial shots, but I hope that they are still giving someone as much fun as I had with them. I now shoot with a Fuji GX 617 panoramic film camera and a Canon 5D mark ll digital."
Ian is a graduate of London and Glasgow Universities and in addition to his photography project he is a consultant to the World Health Organisation and The International Union for Health Promotion. He received an MBE in 2008 for his services to health care and for his work in countries as diverse as Kosovo, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
